Cliff Willis, the Scorpio Enigma. A normal who is anonymously given a book of fiction and discovers the hero is his own brother. Soon the fiction of the book begins to invade his reality, with Cliff receiving messages from his brother. The messages teach him how to reshape himself into a man more powerful and dangerous but also brings his sanity into serious doubt. Cliff receives a message from his brother begging him to rescue him and Cliff can take no more. As he goes out to donate the book to a specialized dealer he's attacked by shadowy men and kills two of them. The last man escapes with the book. While Cliff is in jail his sanity continues to crumble and upon release he has himself committed in the fear that he's a schizophrenic suffering a psychotic break.

After a several days of heavy medications, Cliff is brought forward to be introduced for his first group therapy sessions. Seated nervously with a dozen men gripped by various states of insanity, Cliff begins to weep when the doctor walks in ... Wearing a doctor's white coat, a stethoscope around his neck, a clipboard in one hand and some kind of pistol in the other, Cliff's dead brother, Craig Leo, smiles at him like the last time he ever spoke on earth. "Cliff, all of these men are you to kill you."

Cliff puts his head into his hands weeps now that he knows he's finally descended into total insanity ...
